Name:
Solez - Sneaker E-commerce mobile app
Year:
2024
Role:
Product designer
Overview
Solez is a mobile ecommerce app for sneaker enthusiasts to browse, save, and purchase limited-edition and everyday sneakers, with features tailored to the resale and collector culture.
Solution
A drop-focused app with a countdown-driven "Releases" tab, a streamlined one-page checkout optimized for speed during high-traffic drops, and a wishlist feature with price-drop and restock notifications.
Design approach
I researched how sneaker resale platforms and drop apps structure urgency and scarcity, then designed a release calendar as a core navigation element. The checkout flow was stress-tested for the "drop day" scenario, minimizing form fields and enabling saved payment details to reduce purchase time under pressure.
Goal
Build a shopping experience that feels as exciting and community-driven as sneaker culture itself, while making the purchase flow fast enough to compete for limited "drop" releases.
Problem
Sneaker drops are time-sensitive and high-demand, but many ecommerce apps treat them like generic product listings, slow checkout flows and cluttered product pages caused users to miss out on limited releases, and there was no easy way to track upcoming drops or save items for later.
Visual direction
Visual Direction: A bold, high-contrast visual style using black, white, and a single vibrant accent color (electric blue) to mirror sneaker box and streetwear branding. Large product photography on clean backgrounds gives sneakers a "hype drop" feel, with sharp geometric UI elements reinforcing an energetic, collector-focused tone.
Outcome
The simplified checkout reduced the steps to purchase from 7 to 3, directly supporting the speed needed for limited drops, and the wishlist with notifications gave the app a retention hook that kept users returning between releases.
