Overview
Tenanticle is a mobile app that helps landlords and property managers track rent payments, tenant communications, and maintenance requests from a single dashboard.
Solution
A mobile app where landlords can onboard properties and tenants, track rent status at a glance, log maintenance requests with photo evidence, and communicate with tenants through an in-app messaging thread tied to each unit.
Design approach
I started with stakeholder interviews to map the daily workflow of a typical landlord, then created user flows for the three core jobs: collecting rent, handling maintenance, and managing tenant records. Wireframes were tested with two property managers to validate the dashboard hierarchy before moving to high-fidelity screens, prioritizing one-handed mobile use since most landlords manage properties on the go.
Goal
Give property managers a unified, mobile-first way to manage multiple properties without relying on spreadsheets, paper records, or scattered messaging apps.
Problem
Independent landlords and small property management firms were juggling rent collection, tenant complaints, and maintenance scheduling across WhatsApp, Excel, and phone calls. This led to missed payments, delayed repairs, and poor tenant relationships, with no central record of who paid what or when.
Visual direction
A clean, trustworthy interface using a deep navy and soft green palette to signal reliability and financial clarity, with card-based layouts for properties and tenants so users can scan status (paid, overdue, pending) at a glance. Generous spacing and rounded components keep the dense financial data approachable.
Outcome
The redesigned dashboard reduced the number of taps to log a rent payment from 6 to 2, and the maintenance request flow gave landlords a documented history they previously didn't have, improving accountability between landlords and tenants.
