Role:

Product designer

Overview

Biteasy is a food ordering app connecting users to nearby restaurants for delivery and pickup, with a focus on speed and simplicity in the ordering flow.

Solution

A streamlined three-tab structure (Discover, Orders, Profile) with a sticky cart bar that follows users through menu browsing, a simplified checkout with upfront delivery time and fee transparency, and a one-tap reorder feature for frequent items.

Design approach

I audited competitor apps to identify friction points, then built user flows centered on reducing decision fatigue during browsing. The checkout flow went through three iterations based on usability testing, focusing on reducing the number of screens between "add to cart" and "order confirmed" from five to three.

Goal

Design an ordering experience that gets users from "hungry" to "order placed" in the fewest possible steps, while making menu browsing feel enjoyable rather than overwhelming.

Problem

Existing food delivery apps in the target market often buried key actions (reorder, track order, apply discount) behind multiple menus, and users frequently abandoned carts due to confusing checkout flows and unclear delivery time estimates.

Visual direction

Warm, appetite-driving colors (orange and deep red accents) against a clean white background, with large food photography as the hero element on every restaurant and item card. Typography is bold and friendly, reinforcing a casual, fast-food energy rather than a fine-dining one.

Outcome

Usability testing showed a 40% reduction in time-to-checkout compared to the original flow, and the reorder feature was rated as the most-used shortcut by test participants, validating it as a core retention feature.
